Description

Delightful homemade Twinkies that capture the sweetness of childhood nostalgia with a buttery sponge cake and creamy filling.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Cream filling (powdered sugar, butter, vanilla extract, and milk for consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
  7. Spoon the batter into Twinkie molds or greased cupcake pans, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cool completely before filling with cream using a piping bag.
