- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, sliced thinly
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite choice)
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 onion, diced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the ground beef and diced onion in a large skillet over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk in a separate mixing bowl, adding salt and pepper to create a smooth sauce.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish generously. Layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly across the bottom.
- Add half of the beef mixture over the potatoes, followed by half of the creamy soup mixture.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese on top.
- Repeat the layers: potatoes, beef mixture, soup mixture, and finish with the remaining cheese on top.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to achieve a golden crust.
- Garnish with chopped green onions if desired before serving.

Customize the dish by adding your favorite vegetables or swapping the ground beef for a vegetarian option.
