Description

A comforting and hearty bake featuring layers of beef, potatoes, and creamy mushroom sauce topped with melted cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced thinly
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite choice)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 onion, diced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the ground beef and diced onion in a large skillet over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk in a separate mixing bowl, adding salt and pepper to create a smooth sauce.
  4. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish generously. Layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly across the bottom.
  5. Add half of the beef mixture over the potatoes, followed by half of the creamy soup mixture.
  6. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese on top.
  7. Repeat the layers: potatoes, beef mixture, soup mixture, and finish with the remaining cheese on top.
  8. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to achieve a golden crust.
  10. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired before serving.

Notes
