- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Heat olive oil over medium heat in your skillet. Once shimmering, add diced onion and garlic, and sauté until they become translucent.
- Add ground beef to the skillet with salt, pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Cook until the beef browns beautifully, about 5-7 minutes.
- Layer half of your potato slices as a base in a baking dish.
- Spread half of the cooked beef mixture evenly over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle a portion of the shredded cheese on top.
- Repeat the layering process: another half of potatoes, beef mix, and a sprinkle of cheese.
- Pour beef broth over the layers.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Let it sit for a few minutes to settle before serving.
Notes
For make-ahead convenience, assemble a day in advance. This dish can also be cooked in an air fryer for a crispy finish.
