Description

A comforting and hearty dish made with layers of ground beef, tender potatoes, and rich, gooey cheese, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Heat olive oil over medium heat in your skillet. Once shimmering, add diced onion and garlic, and sauté until they become translucent.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet with salt, pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Cook until the beef browns beautifully, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Layer half of your potato slices as a base in a baking dish.
  5. Spread half of the cooked beef mixture evenly over the potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle a portion of the shredded cheese on top.
  7. Repeat the layering process: another half of potatoes, beef mix, and a sprinkle of cheese.
  8. Pour beef broth over the layers.
  9. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  11. Let it sit for a few minutes to settle before serving.

Notes

For make-ahead convenience, assemble a day in advance. This dish can also be cooked in an air fryer for a crispy finish.
