Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cherries (pitted, fresh or canned)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for topping)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Combine the cherries, sugar, flour, lemon juice, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl.
  3. Roll out the pie crust and place it into your pie dish.
  4. Pour the cherry mixture into the crust and dot with butter.
  5. Roll out a second pie crust for the top or create a lattice design.
  6. Brush the top crust with beaten egg for a glossy finish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
  8. Allow the pie to cool before slicing.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to three days.
