Description

A comforting dish featuring seasoned pork meatballs served over creamy sweet potato mash and topped with a luscious bourbon-maple sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, egg, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients blend harmoniously.
  3. Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs, approximately the size of a golf ball, and lay them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes, or until they’re cooked through and have achieved a gorgeous golden color.
  5. While the meatballs bake, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the chopped sweet potatoes and cook until they’re tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  6. Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to their pot. Mash them well, adding the butter and milk for a creamy consistency.
  7. In a small saucepan, combine the bourbon, maple syrup, and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes.
  8. Serve the meatballs atop the sweet potato mash and generously drizzle with bourbon-maple sauce.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: You can prepare the meatballs ahead of time and refrigerate them for up to 24 hours before baking. Cooking alternatives: If you prefer an air fryer, arrange the meatballs in a single layer and cook at 375°F (190°C) for about 15-18 minutes.
