- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them generously.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using your electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Crack in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, gently pour in the milk, blending until fully combined.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops gently with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes in the pans for about 10 minutes, then carefully turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Whip the cold heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Assemble the cake by placing one layer on a serving plate, spreading whipped cream and sliced strawberries on top, then adding the second layer and repeating.
