Description

Texas Sheet Cake Cookies are a delightful twist on the classic dessert, featuring a soft, cake-like texture that melts in your mouth. Each bite is infused with rich chocolate flavor, complemented by a creamy, buttery frosting that adds a luscious finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cookies:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • For the Frosting:
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
    • 1/4 cup milk
    • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 3 cups powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined, then fold in the cocoa powder.
  6. Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. For the frosting, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then stir in the milk and cocoa powder until smooth. Remove from heat and whisk in the powdered sugar and vanilla until creamy.
  9. Spread the frosting over the cooled cookies and let set before serving.
